I just purchased a DIY shed and I have to roof it. I have a few other projects like a fence to put up and a patio to cover and was thinking of buying a compressor/nailer combo kit, comes with a finishing nailer, a brad nailer, and a stapler. I know I would use the kit frequently but I wanted to know if I would need a different nail gun to attach shingles to the roof of the shed and patio cover. Any help would be wonderful.

I signed a contract for a new roof on 4-18-08 to be completed by 5-21-08, but they have not started on it yet. I have paid 1500.00 upfront, to which I keep thinking I will not get back for work that has not even began. He will not call us, and will not answer his phone. I am supplying materials in which pallets of shingles have been killing my grass. I have had a dumpster in my driveway for all that time, thinking it would be started on 4-20-08. So now I know I am out 400 for the dumpster. How do I get my money back? Please help. To make things more, I just did a license check and found his roofing license is expired! I am not sure of the next step I should take in the process!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this gun is leaving a high staple. since i get paid by the piece, any ideas why it would do it more than occassionally just in the last few weeks. and the maintenance is like way up to date. ive tried everything but rebending the safety bale which is obviously wore or the fact that the driver and staple chamber have been misaligned. anything is possible. this gun is used and missing some lock washers and sometimes things come loose.
help??????? its costing me. sometimes i have to stop shingling every 1 to 3 shingles to drive 1 down. i suppose i could have it serviced, but it is by far the best gun in the bunch. i could buy 1 but since im new to roofing, im afraid i lack the finesse to keep the safety bale on the pw150r str8. any pointers for a new guy?

I had new 30-year architecture grade off-white shingles put on after I moved into my house 5 years ago. I live in an area where it is usually dry enough that we can use swamp coolers in the summer to cool our houses.

To connect the water to my swamp cooler, the previous owners ran copper tubing from an interior sink supply through walls and up through the roof. When the installers put on my shingles, they cut a slit in the shingle to fit around the tubing and put some silicone glue around the tubing and onto the shingle.

I am going to remove the tubing, which will leave about a 3/8- to 1/2-inch hole in the roof.

In winter, we have been known to get down to 30 or 40 below 0; in the summer, we get up to about 110 deg F.

What’s the best way to patch the hole with minimal unsightliness, but with the most durability so the patch can last as long as the shingles? If a patch can’t last that long, then what kind of patch would last the longest and still not be too unsightly?
